Towards Net Zero
The UK government has confirmed its commitment to sustained growth in solar capacity in order to support the nation’s path to Net Zero by 2050. Furthermore, it sees solar capacity as a key tool for low-cost decarbonisation and creating a greater energy independence.
The proposal will have an export capacity of 25 MW, which is sufficient to power 12,500 homes per annum, which is the equivalent of 8,000 tons of CO2.

The five key objectives of the proposals:
- Support the UK’s goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and the interim target of a 78% reduction by 2035.
- Allow livestock grazing to commence in parallel to solar energy generation, whilst ensuring that the quality of the soil is protected and ready for cultivation following decommission of the solar farm.
- Deliver significant biodiversity net gains throughout the site, whilst having a profoundly positive environmental effect overall.
- Leave a lasting legacy of landscape enhancements following decommissioning, in the form or species rich wildflower, native tree planting and new hedgerows.
- Create exciting employment opportunities during both the construction and operational phases of the programme.
